2K delays the next-gen version of WWE 2K15

2K Sports announced that they will delay the next generation version of WWE 2K15. Therefore, the Playstation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game will be released on November 18, 2014 in North America and November 21, 2014 for the other regions. Meanwhile, the Xbox 360 and PS3 date remains the same – October 28, 2014 for North America and October 31, 2014 for the rest of the world.

According to 2K Sports, the delay is happening because they want to deliver the best possible experience to players.  The developers, Visual Concepts and Yuke’s, intend to release the most authentic and action-packed WWE to date, according to Greg Thomas, president of Visual Concepts. He adds that the additional development time allows them to ensure that WWE 2K15 will offer players an experience above their expectations.

To date, 2K released a list of 60 wrestlers that are going to appear in the game. The roster includes big names from the past and the present, such as John Cena, Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, The Rock, Hulk Hogan, Batista or Randy Orton. The full list can be accessed on the WWE website. The company had some legal disputes with CM Punk’s representatives after his inclusion in the game, despite the fact that he retired, but they are being settled without a trial. Additional wrestlers might be included in the game through downloadable content, just like it happened in WWE 2K14.

WWE 2K15 will include a historical mode, 2K Showcase, which is told to be focusing on past rivalries. This mode is similar to “30 Years of WrestleMania”, from WWE 2K14. The new historical mode shows more detailed, focused and up-close looks at personal rivalries. Showcase will feature thirty three matches. The highlights of this mode are the rivalries between John Cena and CM Punk and Triple H and Shawn Michaels, respectively. The game will also have a special feature, which will only be available on the next-gen version, “My Career”. This mode involves players creating a character and following the evolution of his or her WWE career.

About Crisan Mircea

I'm a journalism graduate and an occasional gamer. As a kid I used to own a NES clone called "Terminator 2", which was hugely popular in my country. I like old school games and adventure games but I occasionaly play RPG's and Shooters as well, though I wouldn't call myself an expert at these kinds of games. When I'm not writing or playing games I prefer reading detective or fantasy novels.
