I think we can all agree that school can get very boring some of the time, or rather most of the time. Wouldn’t you rather just spend your day gaming on your PS4 instead? Well, there’s a place where you don’t have to choose between the two anymore as a South Korean university not only allows gaming in class, but actually encourages it. Sangmyung University has partnered with Sony Computer Entertainment to create what will soon be known to be the best course of all time. The university has a classroom filled with monitors and PS4 consoles and they will definitely be put to good use by the students. And we’re not talking about just one or two of them either as there will be a console for every desk and students will also have access to PS Vitas.
As you can imagine, the course will be all about gaming. Some of the subjects discussed include the history of gaming, game graphics, game music composition, indie games, mobile games and game marketing among others. The course will also feature local celebrities who will serve as guest lecturers and there will be game studio field trips as well. Finally, when there are no students around the classroom will remain open as a PS4 and PS Vita demo studio. Needless to say, the Sangmyung University is bound to become one of the most popular schools ever in the near future. However, I am very curious if students will also be taught about the importance of Xbox consoles in gaming history class. It would be pretty strange to to learn about the Xbox One while you’re holding a PS4 contoller, wouldn’t it?
In any case, if there are people out there who still doubt that gaming is being taken seriously, this is further proof that it very much is, at least in some parts of the world. Stay tuned for more news and updates.
