Curve Studios announced that the sequel to “Stealth Bastard”, Stealth Inc. 2: A Game of Clones will be released on October 23, exclusively on Wii U. The studio self-publishes the gamem, so they have creative control over it and the liberty of releasing it on any platform they want. Which makes their decision more interesting, since Stealth Bastard was originally released on PC, Plastation 3 and Playstation Vita.
Curve has collaborated with Nintendo in the past as well. They released a game series called “Fluidity” on 3DS and Wii. The game was well received and got generally positive reviews, but it didn’t sell very well. The developer states that they have learned a lot of lessons from making this game and they implemented their new knowledge in “Stealth Bastard”. When the game came out, Nintendo showed interest in it and inquired whether the developer could make a version for their consoles. At the time, Curve Studios was working to release the game on Playstation, so they decided against porting it to the Wii at the time. However, they started working on a sequel that was going to be Wii U exclusive, designed specifically for this consoles and making use of Game Pad features.
Stealth Inc. 2 distances itself from the linear stages of the first game and brings players an inter-connected world as its setting. The game also features a co-op mode that implies a second player joining the game and manipulating the environment with the Game Pad. Basically, you play as a clone who escaped from its test chamber and you’ll have to roam the facility, fight enemies and free the other clones from test chambers. Acccording to Curve, the game features a Metroid structure.
While Stealth Inc.2 is a Wii U exclusive, the developer announced that they are working to bring the first game, Stealth Bastard, to mobile platforms and to the Playstation 4 console.
