In this game, players will asume the role of Sherlock Holmes across six different cases. Unlike the previous games in the series, this one is highly based on players’ choices. You get the case and you handle it as you see fit. In the end, players decide who to arrest, based on their own judgement. The newest teaser shows how Sherlock uses his disguises to reach certain people. The example shows Holmes putting on a sailor disguise and going to a bar, where, through his new appearance and a fake accent, he gains a man’s trust. They arm wrestle and then Sherlock offers to buy him a drink. However, according to the developer, had the player gone there dressed as Sherlock Holmes, the man’s reaction would have been completely different. In other words, wearing the proper disguise is the key to getting people to co-operate. You have access to several disguise items through Sherlock’s wardrobe in Baker Street. You can choose between different clothes, housing wigs, hats, glasses, hairstyles and beards.
Besides the disguise feature, Frogwares also showcased and explained that there will be several mini-games available (one of them being the arm-wrestling shown in the trailer), including shooting an ancient cross-bow at a bridge so you could cross a river. Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments is being developed by Frogwares and it is the first game in the series built using Unreal Engine 3. The game will be released in September 30, 2014 for PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 3 and Playstation 4.
