Ask anyone with some tech knowledge about the best smartphones currently available on the market and they’ll probably tell you that the LG G3 is among them. The device features a very impressive 5.5-inch 1440 x 2560 display along with equally impressive specs and features so what’s not to love? Ever since it was released globally back in June, people all over the world have been pushing and shoving to get their hands on it and see for themselves if all the hype was justified. Well, LG announced on several occasions that their latest flagship is selling very well and since few customers have complained about it, we have to conclude that it was indeed justified. But how well is the LG G3 selling exactly? We don’t have the exact figures at the moment, but according to the Korean tech giant, this will be their first smartphone ever to sell 10 million units.
“LG has emerged as a new game-changer in a number of fields. LG Electronics’ latest flagship, the G3 smartphone, will exceed the 10 million sales mark for the first time since we entered the smartphone industry,” LG said in a recent statement. Sure, Samsung Galaxy S devices and iPhones have already managed this feat, but they have always been considered the top dogs while LG smartphones have only enjoyed moderate popularity until now. It looks like their time to shine has finally come, but the company is not resting on its laurels just yet. They are also working on the LG G3 Stylus, a variation of the regular model that makes use of a stylus pen and is likely meant to compete with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 4. However, LG has a very different strategy than Samsung, which may or may not work in the long run. The LG G3 Stylus will only feature mid-range specs and a lower price tag so the device looks to be a cheaper alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
It’s hard to say if it will appeal to a wider audience, but there’s definitely a lot of people looking for budget devices so this approach might end up working in their favor. The LG G3 Stylus is expected to be officially announced during the IFA Trade Show 2014 complete with pricing and availability. Also at the IFA, the company is planing to launch their brand new circular smartwatch called the LG G Watch R. This device is the company’s answer to Motorola’s own round smartwatch, the Moto 360, which will also be launched at the event.
