We recently learned that the Xbox One version of Minecraft ran into some problems, which may cause it to be delayed by a bit. On a more positive note, the Xbox 360 Edition of the game is doing just fine and there was actually a pretty exciting announcement earlier regarding this version. It seems that BBC Worldwide has partnered with Microsoft Studios and Mojang to bring Doctor Who to Minecraft. As a big Whovian myself, this is one of the most exciting news I’ve heard in a long time. Well, except for the fact that season 8 of Doctor Who just started of course. But anyway, let’s talk a bit about what the partnership actually consists of, shall we?
This deal will offer Minecraft players the opportunity of changing their avatars to resemble some of their favorite Doctor Who characters thanks to the new skin packs inspired by the popular series. The first pack will only cost 3 bucks and includes a skin inspired by the latest incarnation of Doctor Who, Peter Capaldi, better known as the Twelfth Doctor. Moreover, the pack also includes five more Doctors, their companions and some of the shows most infamous bad guys including the Doctor’s arch-enemies, the Daleks. “We’re constantly looking for new and innovative ways to bring Doctor Who content to our loyal fans,” said Rikesh Desai, Digital Entertainment and Games Director at BBC Worldwide UK.” Working collaboratively with Microsoft, we’ve created an exciting new product which will allow Doctor Who fans to create their own brand new adventures in the heart of the iconic world of Minecraft.”
BBC also says that this is just the first Doctor Who inspired Minecraft skin pack and we should expect a few more further along the line. The first pack should arrive to the Xbox 360 sometime next month so make sure you keep an eye for it.
