Shortly after Robin Williams’ tragic death his fans started a petition by which they asked Blizzard to create a World of Warcraft NPC based on him. The great actor and comedian was well known for being a gamer and one of the games he enjoyed the most was none other than Blizzard’s WoW. Word of this petition quickly reached the company and they decided to go ahead and create the NPC in order to memorialize and honor Robin Williams. Moreover, it seems that Blizzard started working on the NPC right away and they already managed to come up with an early version. The company didn’t confirm anything just yet, but fans have found evidence of a new genie NPC called Robin in the beta version of the upcoming Warlords of Draenor expansion for World of Warcraft.
It would be fitting to see Robin Williams depicted as a genie seeing as how it pays tribute to one of his most iconic roles from the animated movie Alladin. But while he played the role of a powerful entity even then, now he looks truly badass and could easily pass for one of the game’s main bosses. However, it seems that Blizzard hasn’t decided if this will be the final model as other NPCs inspired by the actor were also found within Warlords of Draenor. Robin Williams played a plethora of interesting roles throughout his career ranging from an old nanny in Mrs. Doubtfire all the way to an android in Bicentennial Man and everything in between so Blizzard could end up creating more than one NPC based on him. Many World of Warcraft players are suggesting that Blizzard should also create a troll with the name Jumanji in order to honor the actor.
World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor will be released on November 13th.
