Just as previous leaks have suggested, our favorite mercenary will return in Mortal Kombat X. NetherRealm Studios just released a trailer presenting the new and improved Kano. The character looks a bit older than when we last saw him in Mortal Kombat 9, but he really aged well and has even become more powerful. Director Ed Boon tells us that improved cybernetic implants are the reason for Kano’s new found strength. Judging by the trailer, he had quite a few of those implants installed as now he looks much more like a cyborg than ever before. His signature eye implant is still there of course, but it now changes color based on the chosen variation which is pretty badass to be honest.
Speaking of variations, Kano will have three of them, just like all the other Mortal Kombat X characters. His Cutthroat variation allows him to pound on his cybernetic heart in order to make his attacks more powerful and his knives more deadly. The Cybernetic variation takes full advantage of Kano’s implants and gives him several eye laser attacks as well as grenades, which allow him to strike from a distance. Finally, the Commando variation makes Kano one hell of a brawler with the ability to easily counter both high and low attacks.
Aside from showcasing Kano, Ed Boon also gives us a peak at the new jungle stage where the mercenary battles against one of the new fighters in Mortal Kombat X, D’Vorah. The game now has a total of eight characters following this latest addition. We have four veterans in the form of Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden and now Kano, and four fresh ones, namely Cassie Cage, Kotal Khan, Ferra/Torr, and D’Vorah. Mortal Kombat X will be released next year for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and the PC.
