There has been a lot of speculation in regards to the iPhone 6’s announcement and release dates. Many sources currently believe that Apple will announce its latest flagship on September 16th as part of a media event with a launch to follow on October 14th. However, Redcode reports that “a big media event” is scheduled for Tuesday, September 9th and suggest that the smartphone will be announced then. It could be that the event’s date was moved from September 16th to September 9th, or maybe previous reports were merely speculations. In any case, according to this new source, we should expect to see not only the 4.7-inch iPhone 6, but also the 5.5-inch one. As far as we know only the former will be launched later this Fall with the latter to follow sometime after that.
Rumor has it that Apple doesn’t want to launch both variants at the same time as they might compete with one another. The 4.7-inch is said to be targeted at average consumers and it might not be a substantial upgrade over the iPhone 5s, although it will come with a much bigger display and a few other improvements as well. But the Cupertino-based company is saving the best for the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 and will be equipping the device with some pretty innovative technology if rumors are to be believed. Design-wise, both models are said to feature a metallic chassis and the bigger one will almost certainly come with a sapphire glass screen. In regards to their specs, rumors have been rampart so we’re not going to speculate too much, but suffice it to say that both variants are expected to be on par with many other flagships in their respective classes.
The other highly anticipated device of the year will be announced, and maybe even launched in September as well. We’re talking about the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 of course. Most reports claim that Samsung will officially announce the latest model in their popular “phablet” series on September 3rd with a launch to follow at the end of the month. Interestingly enough, we might end up seeing a Note competing directly against an iPhone for the very first time. Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will not grow in size this year and will presumably feature a 5.7-inch display yet again. As we mentioned above, Apple is launching a 5.5-inch iPhone 6, which is pretty close to the “phablet” and might put them at odds.
