Call of Duty Advanced Warfare features upgradable exoskeletons

Initially revealed back at E3 2014, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare is the latest entry in the franchise and one of the most promising looking CoD games in recent memory. Sledgehammer had a brilliant idea when they decided to place the game into the future and add all those crazy tech and gadgets we first saw in the E3 demo. One of the things that stood out the most for me while seeing the video was the exoskeleton armor. Granted, that’s not exactly a new concept and some may criticize it for being too similar to the Crysis Nanosuit, but something like that really goes well with the setting of Advanced Warfare so I’m glad they decided to put it in.

We know the exosuit serves the same function as the Nanosuit by enhancing the user’s speed, strength, and agility. But there are a few things that set it apart as we recently found out from director Bret Robins who shared some more details with GamingBolt. “One thing that is new with the campaign is that we’re introducing an upgrading system. Through the exoskeleton you can increase its power; you can earn upgrade points by completing challenges and customize your exoskeleton. By end of the game you’re much more powerful than you started.” He also explains that you might not get all the upgrades in one playthrough as the system branches out and forces you to make certain choices.

Robins believes this offers some more replayability to Advanced Warfare and should encourage people to play the campaign again. Starting a New Game+ will allow you to keep all the upgrades earned in your previous playthrough so that you can just go for the ones you’ve missed. That’s a very nice feature to see actually and should indeed give us a reason to replay the campaign, provided the rest of the game is just as interesting of course. But from the footage we’ve seen I have no doubt that Call of Duty Advanced Warfare will be one of the best, if not THE best entry in the entire series. I mean you have giant mechs, hover bikers, exoskeletons, cloaking devices, and Kevin Spacey to top it all off. The game definitely has a lot of potential and I’m confident that Sledgehammer will offer us a very refreshing Call of Duty experience.

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare will be released on November 4th for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and the PC.
