We’re still about two weeks away from the release of The Last of Us Remastered, but we already have a pretty good idea about what kind of improvements this edition will come with. Sony recently hosted an event dedicated to the launch of The Last of Us Remastered where they revealed the full list of additions for the PS4. MeriStation’s Javi Andres was kind enough to take a few pictures of the slides and shared them on Twitter and the NeoGAF forums. Without further ado check out the full list of improvements below.
- 1080p/60 FPS in single player and multiplayer.
- Texture maps are 4x more detailed. Shadow maps 2x.
- Higher resolution particle effects.
- Occlusion mapping on decals.
- No texture streaming.
- Longer draw distances, better LOD
- Expanded Audio menu options.
- Lock frame rate at 30 frames per second.
- Swap trigger and thumbsticks controls.
- DualShock 4 with touch pad, light bar and speaker support.
- Cinematics with commentary by Neil Druckmann, Troy Baler and Ashley Johnson.
The slides also reveal that The Last of Us Remastered includes the Abandoned Territories MP and Reclaimed Territories MP add-ons as well as the Left Behind single player expansion. Additionally, it appears that all additional content will be “cross-buy” between the PS3 and PS4. Sony also revealed that we can expect more additional content to land sometime this year. Aside from details about the Remastered Edition, we also learned that the original The Last of Us sold 7 million copies worldwide for the PS3. Andres also mentions that the game sold 200k copies in Spain and Portugal and is the fastest selling PlayStation IP.
“Winner of over 200 Game of the Year awards, The Last of Us has been rebuilt for the PlayStation 4 system. Now featuring full 1080p, higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, in addition to several other gameplay improvements. 20 years after a pandemic has radically changed known civilization, infected humans run wild and survivors are killing each other for food, weapons; whatever they can get their hands on. Joel, a violent survivor, is hired to smuggle a 14 year-old girl, Ellie, out of an oppressive military quarantine zone, but what starts as a small job soon transforms into a brutal journey across the U.S.”
The Last of Us Remastered will arrive for the PS4 on July 29th. Pre-ordering the game will grant you a number of exclusive items including two skins for Joel and Ellie, extra in-game cash, bonus XP for multiplayer as well as a bunch of upgrades and boosters.
