Batman Arkham Knight was one of the most anticipated games of 2014 until developer Rocksteady Studios decided to delay it until next year. To make the wait a little bit easier – and get us even more excited in the process – the company shared a few more story details via Facebook recently. The initial post describes the game’s main antagonist, the Arkham Knight as he order his army to lock down Gotham City within an hour and begin Operation Savior. “To all embedded units in Gotham: Operation Savior has begun,” the Arkham Knight announces. “So move out into this damn city and lock it down. I want our hands wrapped tight around Gotham’s throat within the hour.”
Rocksteady revealed earlier that the world of Batman Arkham Knight will be quite large, which means that the villain’s army must be equally impressive if they are able to lock down the entire city so quickly. This army is not comprised only of infantry as you can imagine, the Arkham Knight reportedly also commands soldiers operating vehicles, including tanks. All hope is not lost though as revealed by a follow up Facebook post. Overwhelmed by these impressive forces Commissioner Gordon announces a full retreat back to the GCPD as a result of the police not being able to deal with a threat of this scale.
Fortunately, in Batman Arkham Knight the hero is just as impressively powerful as the villain and it’s up to you to save Gotham City. “Come in all units. This is Commissioner Gordon. We have numerous hostile tanks deployed across the city. Gotham is under attack! I want everyone off the streets and back to GCPD. We’re not equipped to deal with what’s out there. Thank God there’s someone who is.” I’m sorry to say that we don’t know what happens next, but one can only imagine that the Caped Crusader will eventually manage to emerge victorious.
Your mission in Batman Arkham Knight will be more important than ever it seems. The scary thing is that you will have to deal with many more nefarious villains than just the titular Arkham Knight. Familiar bad guys such as the Penguin, Two-Face, Scarecrow, Harley Quinn and the Riddler have all been confirmed to appear in the upcoming title. Needless to say, the odds are stacked against you, but don’t worry, you are the Batman after all. Batman Arkham Knight will be released for PC, PS4, and the Xbox One sometime during 2015.
