Fable Legends is an upcoming fantasy RPG currently in development by Lionhead Studios as an Xbox One exclusive. Gameplay revolves around four players who must journey throughout the world of Albion and solve a variety of quests. Seems pretty standard right? The catch here is that the four heroes must follow the rules imposed by a fifth player, which plays the role of the villain. Fable Legends is for all intents and purposes a Dungeons & Dragons adventure where the villain is basically the Dungeon Master. The game itself will essentially be a dungeon-crawler so D&D veterans and hack ‘n slash RPG fans alike should feel right at home. Lionhead announced during E3 2014 that the game will feature a four-player co-op mode.
“Fable Legends welcomes you back to the fantastic land of Albion, home to the previous Fable games. Lived out in an eternal “once upon a time”, Albion is a fairy tale world where history, legend, and folklore are practically the same thing. So it’s no surprise that millions of players have visited and adored its welcoming countryside. Albion is a place full of action, humour, and opportunity. Of course you’ll find monsters, villains, and even the occasional disaster, but you shouldn’t take any of it too seriously. Albion is a land of fun and light-hearted adventure for you to lose yourself in. Enjoy the shining green fields, the silly accents and the occasional proposition from an “attractive” villager.”
It’s no Fable: The Lost Chapters but it will have to do for now. The game certainly seems like it will be fun (for a while) and the villain players in particular will surely enjoy controlling the fates of the heroes. If you’re interested in Fable Legends, but aren’t exactly the co-op type worry not. Fable Legends also has a single player mode and you will have access to all of the game’s content. If all else fails, you can also try the multiplayer experience with a bunch of AI-controlled Heroes.
The multiplayer beta for Fable Legends will begin sometime later this Fall. If you want to sign-up for the beta or want to find out more about the game visit FableLegends. In related news, Lionhead Studios announced earlier this month that Fable Anniversary will be coming to PC this September. The game is a remastered version of the original Fable: The Lost Chapters and will feature improved graphics and a new save system. Stay tuned for more news and updates.
