The highly anticipated Uncharted 4 has finally been revealed yesterday at E3 2014 during Sony’s press conference. Entitled Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Naughty Dog’s latest entry in the franchise sees the return of Nathan Drake. Sony arguably had the best E3 conference and ended it in style by showing off a teaser trailer featuring our protagonist who looks like he has seen some better days. Drake wakes up on a deserted beach and disappears into a creepy looking forest shortly after he regains conscientiousness. This sequence does not reveal a whole lot about the game’s story, but luckily we came across a description that gives us a better idea of what Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be all about.
“Several years after his last adventure, retired fortune hunter, Nathan Drake, is forced back into the world of thieves. With the stakes much more personal, Drake embarks on a globe-trotting journey in pursuit of a historical conspiracy behind a fabled pirate treasure. His greatest adventure will test his physical limits, his resolve, and ultimately what he’s willing to sacrifice to save the ones he loves. ” All the footage we can see in the trailer was captured completely in engine and we have to admit that it looks darn good. Developer Naughty Dog revealed that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End runs in glorious 1080p resolution and 60 fps. They also mention that “right now Drake’s Uncharted 4 model is over double the polygons of Joel from The Last of Us PS3.”
We reported a while ago that well-known industry insiders who managed to get an early look at Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End were praising the game’s visuals. We figured they were just saying that to attract attention, but after seeing the trailer I think we can all agree that the graphics look top-notch. Too bad we didn’t catch a glimpse of any gamplay action yet, but from what we hear the game will feature “stupidly impressive tricks and tech”. Not sure what that means but hopefully we’ll find out sometime in the coming months. As you might imagine Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be a PS4 exclusive title. An exact release date has not been revealed yet, but we know from the trailer that the game will arrive sometime during 2015.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is already available for pre-order and can be purchased from here. Stay tuned for all the latest news and E3 2014 coverage.
