Polyphony Digital announced a few days ago that a final update for Gran Turismo 5 will be released this Saturday, May 31st. This patch will coincide with the termination of the game’s online services and features. GT 5’s 2.16 update will be done during a server maintenance, which will take place on May 31st from 4:00 AM (BST) to 6:00 AM (BST). The company provided a rather short list of details regarding the upcoming patch, which can be viewed below.
“- All online services will be disabled. This includes the [DLC] option from the Main Menu, the “Consecutive Login Bonus” for [GT Life], “Open Lobby”, “Seasonal Events”, “Online Dealerships”, “Car Delivery” and all features within the [Community] section.
– [Gran Turismo TV] featured on the Main Menu is part of the online service, but programs previously purchased will still be available for viewing until their validity period expires.”
In case you are worried that all the DLC you’ve purchased will soon become unavailable, you can rest assured. Polyphony Digital explained in an earlier post on the website that there is a way to keep all you downloadable content even after the final update. The steps you must follow in order to keep your DLCs can be found here. Keep in mind that you must do so before the online services are terminated so you better hurry.
The good news is that only the Racing Car Pack, Course Pack, Paint Pack, and Racing Gear Pack DLCs require you to take these steps. The company says that all the other bonus items will remain even after the online services are terminated.
“You can use the items even after the online service have ended without any special operation. After you have purchased those items, select the Downloadable Content icon on the GT5 home screen and then install the purchased items before the online services end. If you delete the GT5 Game Data after the online services have ended, you’ll be able to download and install them again. You can find the instructions in the “How to download the DLCs when you deleted the Game Data” section on this page.”
