It’s been quite a while since we last heard something about the HTC One M8 Ace. Lately our attention has been caught by the rumored HTC One M8 Prime, a device that’s said to be an improved version of HTC’s current flagship. Two other devices developed by the Chinese company have also seen the spotlight recently. We’re talking about the HTC One Mini 2, a compact version of the M8 that comes with lower specs, but lower price as well. The other smartphone we mentioned is the HTC One Remix, a slightly redesigned version of the Mini 2 that will be making its way to Verizon soon.
You might have noticed that these devices have one thing in common: the HTC One M8. All the handsets we’ve enumerated earlier seem to be some sort of variation of HTC’s highly popular flagship. The HTC One M8 Ace is no exception mind you as it’s basically just a plastic version of the regular smartphone. Take a look at the picture below and see what we mean. The tweet was posted by notorious leaker @evleaks, well known for revealing info related to smartphones long before official announcements have been made.

The Ace and the One M8 are virtually the same device in terms of specs, except for the display. Take this with a grain of salt as it is just a rumor for now, but the same @evleaks was saying earlier that HTC One M8 Ace’s screen will be slightly smaller than that of its counterpart. “Apparently the HTC M8 Ace has just a 4.7-inch screen, not five-inch as is sometimes being reported.” Aside from the display and plastic body, everything will be the same as far as we know. Based on the info available at this time, we think the Ace will feature the specs listed below.
- 4.7-inch 1920 x 1080p full HD display
- 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801
- 2GB RAM
- 16GB/32GB internal storage options
- 4 MP “Ultrapixel” rear Duo Camera, 5MP front
- Android 4.4.2 KitKat
- 2,600 mAh battery
The fact that Ace is being made out of plastic is not necessarily a bad thing, many people might actually embrace it as it will be much lighter than the One M8. Furthermore, rumor has it that the device will also come at a smaller price point because of this. The HTC One M8 Ace is estimated to cost about $400, but it’s not confirmed yet. In any case, we’ll let you know as soon as we learn something so stay tuned for more news and updates.
