Dark Souls director is the new president of From Software

From Software have announced today that Hidetaka Miyazaki, the creator of the unforgiving yet increasingly popular Souls RPG series has become the company’s new president.

Miyazaki has been working for From Software since 2004, where he created and directed both  the 2009 PS3-exclusive hit Demon’s Souls and 2011’s Dark Souls, two games that built up into to a cult series. For this year’s Dark Souls II, he stepped into a supervisor’s role after handing over the director’s role to the duo consisting of Tomohiro Shibuya and Yui Tanimura.

The Souls series pioneer was promoted as part of a large group of From Software personnel changes [Japanese], including Demon’s Souls producer Masanori Takeuchi moving up into a senior managing director role.

The structural changes for the Japanese developer come just weeks after From Software was purchased by Japanese media giant Kadokawa, with the aim to take advantage of the company’s increasing worldwide influence and image.

I’m Load The Game’s co-founder and community manager, and whenever I’m not answering questions on social media platforms, I spend my time digging up the latest news and rumors and writing them up. That’s not to say I’m all work and no fun, not at all. If my spare time allows it, I like to engage in some good old fashioned online carnage. If it’s an MMO with swords and lots of PvP, I’m most likely in it. Oh, and if you’re looking to pick a fight in Tekken or Mortal Kombat, I’ll be more than happy to assist!
