Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Education makes learning more enjoyable

The Korean company recently launched the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Education, a student-friendly tablet specifically designed for U.S. classrooms. Tab 4 Education is a rugged 10.1-inch device that was exclusively developed to support scalable 1:1 computing initiatives in K-12 schools.

Samsung’s latest tablet is basically a modified version of the recently launched Galaxy Tab 4 10.1, but was equipped with a protective Gorilla Glass case. The tablet provides easy access to Google Play for Education and includes a wide variety of apps, e-books, and videos ideal for day-to-day classroom needs.

“Samsung is committed to powering education by empowering educators, and this requires technology that is built specifically for the classroom environment,” said Tod Pike, senior vice president at Samsung’s Enterprise Business Division. “This new Galaxy Tab, designed for education, is an important step toward achieving that vision as it combines the accessibility and engagement of our leading tablet devices with simple, intuitive management tools to foster a more interactive and effective learning environment.”

Galaxy Tab 4 Education features a 1280 x 800 resolution, 10.1-inch WXGA display with an 16:10 aspect ratio that’s perfect for viewing educational content. The classroom-ready tablet also sports a quad-core processor running at 1.2 GHz, 1.5 GB of RAM and a powerful 6800 mAh battery that can last for up to 10 hours of multimedia use. Tab 4 comes equipped with 16 GB internal storage memory and a microSD card slot that allows for up to 64GB additional storage.

Just like the regular version, this student oriented tablet ships with Android 4.4 KitKat and supports WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n connectivity. Last but not least, Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Education includes Near Field Communications (NFC) technology and comes equipped with rear and front-facing cameras.

The tablet comes at a reasonable price of $370, but access to Google’s web-based management console will cost an additional $30 per every device. By comparison, the consumer version of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 costs around $320, but doesn’t feature a Gorilla Glass protective case.
