Sunset Overdrive is an upcoming Xbox One exclusive open-world shooter developed by Insomniac Games. The website that was created for OverCharge Delirium XT (an energy drink that can be found within the game) reveals some much needed information about the title.
The game is set in the near future where a catastrophe has turned most Sunset City’s inhabitants into mutants. Apparently, you are one of the few who were spared and must now find a way to deal with the threat. Sunset Overdrive is said to focus on agile combat and features wall running, zip-lines and acrobatics.
According to the teaser website, the OverCharge energy drink is manufactured by Fizzco, a beverage company founded in 2007 by visionary Rupert F. Kane. The company is famous for creating revolutionary products like Easy-Peasy shelf meats and MuffinTops cereal. Fizzco’s premier product, UNTZ is the world’s most popular drink with more than 20-billion cans consumed every day. Furthermore, the company is preparing to revolutionize the beverage industry yet again, with its OverCharge Delirium XT, an energy drink that contains “xtremophiles”.
“Little else is known about Fizzco, other than the fact that it’s represented by a creepy mascot named Fizzie, and Fizzie’s primed to have a launch party in Sunset City. ” The website mentions that Fizzco is also launching parties in Los Angeles, San Diego, Cologne and Seattle. Coincidentally, the tour dates align with this year’s E3, Comic Con, Gamescon, and PAX Prime.
The OverCharge website gives us a peek at six of the game’s characters, as well as a description for each one. The cast includes Chet Fischer – Fizzco Executive, Wendy Tarth – the last living blacksmith, Troop Master Bryllcream, Red Caboose Reggie, Buck National and Mayor Arnold Renner. Sunset Overdrive will feature some very interesting locations such as Sasquatch & Friends Family Center, Cafe Fizzco, Aqua Mofeta Brewery and SexBurger. The website also lists Fizzco’s sponsors, as well as some comical end-user license agreements and copyright policy.
“By viewing the Site, you are required, by law, to inform at least two living humans about the benefits and great taste of OverCharge Delirium XT. Failure to do so within 48 hours of site-viewage will result in up to 17 years of incarceration in a federal prison”
The game was first revealed last year at E3 during Microsoft’s conference as an Xbox One exclusive, and is expected to be released later this year. A teaser trailer for Sunset Overdrive can be viewed below:
