After months filled with rumors and speculations about the LG G3 the release date finally got revealed by the company. Although a bit late, compared to the competition, LG’s flagship will be revealed on May 27th in New York, San Francisco and London, and on the 28th in Singapore, Seoul and Istanbul.
Full details about the G3 are still missing but we have some information about it, gathered after months of rumors and leaks. According to these rumors the G3 will sport a 5.5-inch Quad HD display at 2560 x 1440 resolution with 534ppi pixel density. It will also feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 2.5 Ghz quad-core processor with 2 or 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. It may have microSD support to expand the internal memory. The G3 might also come with a 16-20 MP camera with optical image stabilization and with a battery size of 3300mAh. Considering the OS, it will likely ship with Android 4.4.2.
The design of the G3 will be similar to its predecessor, the G2. At least that’s what a supposed leaked image suggests. Talks also suggest that the device will ship with IP67 dust and water resistant certification. The LG G3 might get an aluminum shell, like the HTC One M8. We’ll have to see if LG will change its traditional plastic design. The power and volume buttons will remain on the back side of the device like on the LG G2.
The LG G3 has a lot to prove… With the Samsung Galaxy S5, Sony Xperia Z2 and HTC One 8 already on the market, it will be a hard battle for LG to win the crowds. Until its big debut we can only guess what its hardware and software capabilities will be, but the LG G3 can become a game changer. Alongside the G3, the G Watch is also expected to make an appearance on the events.
