The online petition for GTA V PC has reached a new milestone today, gathering almost 700.000 signatures already. Rockstar have released their ever so popular title back in September 2013 for PS3 and Xbox 360. The game managed to generate the staggering amount of $800 million in just 24 hours and more than $1 billion after three days. The massive sum is even more impressive when considering that GTA V was not available at launch for arguably the largest gaming community. Things haven’t changed much since then and the PC version of the game is still nowhere to be seen.
The petition in question has been up for quite some time now and it managed to gather 600.000 signatures by October 2013. Rumors about a GTA V PC release have been around for a while, with Eurogamer reporting back in October that GTA V will make its way to the PC in the first quarter of 2014. On the other hand, TECH-NICK from Saturn.de hinted on a June release and said that Grand Theft Auto V might be in the works for Xbox One and Playstation 4 as well. Rockstar Games haven’t confirmed anything though, and only stated that “everything else is up for consideration” when asked about the PC and Wii versions back in November.
We do hope that GTA V will be released for all platforms eventually, and it looks like gamers everywhere will keep signing the online petition until it does. The petition says: “Please release GTA V on PC. GTA games have been a large part of so many people’s lives and it’s a big shame not seeing the newest iteration of the game being released on the most powerful platform. Things like modifications have always been a HUGE part of PC gaming and modded GTA is some of the most insanely fun times you can have. I hope you consider the release of GTA V on PC as it’ll make many people very happy!”
GTA IV was also released just for consoles at first, with the PC version only coming out 217 days later. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions for GTA V were released 216 ago already so it looks like it’s going to take Rockstar a little longer this time if they are indeed planning for a PC release. It would be a shame if they didn’t as that would be a loss not only for the players but also for the company. Hopefully they are working on versions of GTA V for next-gen consoles and are planning on releasing them later this year together with PC version but we’ll have to wait and see.
