Tom Clancy’s The Division is one of the most anticipated games of this year. The third-person shooter/action RPG which runs on Ubisoft’s new Snowdrop engine is inspired by real-world events. The game is set in a decaying society where humanity is on the brink of extinction. The player is part of “The Division”, a group that was created to deal with the threat caused by the Black Friday events. The original description goes like this:
“A devastating pandemic sweeps through New York City, and one by one, basic services fail. In only days, without food or water, society collapses into chaos. The Division, a classified unit of self-supported tactical agents, is activated. Leading seemingly ordinary lives among us, The Division agents are trained to operate independently of command, as all else fails. Fighting to prevent the fall of society, the agents will find themselves caught up in an epic conspiracy, forced to combat not only the effects of a manmade virus, but also the rising threat of those behind it. When everything collapses, your mission begins.”
The game was first announced by Ubisoft during last year’s E3 press conference and was initially developed for next-gen consoles only. However, it was later decided that the game will be released for PC as well given that the community expressed a great deal of interest in the title. Ubisoft has revealed a brand new screenshot for The Division in a recent tweet. The image shows two division agents firing at enemy forces. The surrounding area looks inhospitable, while the city itself seemss to have been all but deserted. The description that comes with the screenshot tells us that “Fighting to prevent the fall of society, the agents will find themselves caught up in an epic conspiracy!”
It looks like cooperation will be crucial if we are to discover the cause of this catastrophe and try to save what’s left of mankind. Tom Clancy’s The Division doesn’t have a scheduled release date yet but it is believed to launch during this year’s third quarter for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
